First-day cover produced in
Italy and part of a series dedicated to the
1982 World Champion national team. The left side
depicts the Italian formation lined up for the
usual pre-match photo. Paolo Rossi is discernible as
the first one standing from right to left. Below the
photo the official competition logo, with the
written in blue "Italy World Champion". In the centre and
on the right-hand side of the specimen two identical stamps
bearing the first day of issue, the city where
stamping took place and the stylised design of the
arms of Dino Zoff with a net in the background, ad
raising the World Cup on 11/07/1982. The same
subject is featured on the historic stamp with which the
franked envelope. It is a value stamped
Italian colour stamp, 1,000 lire, by the well-known painter
Renato Guttuso and issued on 12/09/1982, the same date as the
stamps mentioned above.
